DAY 1: MY SACRIFICE

“What are you giving up for Lent?”

Have you been asked this question yet?

Have you posed this question to your kids, or loved ones?

Sacrifice is found throughout scripture and mystics and history teaches us its power in not only reminding us of our need for God, but it can deepen our relationship with God.

I invite us to consider deepening the question, and to reflect of the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Live simply so others may simply live.”

How might you animate this in your life:

1.        Instead of spending money on a six-pack, snacks, or an expensive cut of meat, take that money and donate it directly to a local charity or person in need of financial support.

2.        Donate some of your extra clothes or unused items to benefit people who go without (especially those in colder weather who lack warm clothing and outerwear).

3.        Take some of your time that you may give to watching sports or a streaming series, and invest that hour or two in learning more about some of the harsh realities facing many communities in our country and world. (Please Message me for suggestions if interested)

Finally, always bring this to prayer. Ponder what Jesus might be inviting you to do to truly be his instrument of peace.
